| Notes | The story of a friendship between two women. One is a successful teacher, Olga, who lectures on a 19th century von Gunderrode who committed suicide when her friendship with another woman, Bettina Brentano broke up. The other woman, Ruth, is a painter who is on the verge of mental illness and dreams of suicide. The friendship brings Ruth out of her seclusion and this makes her husband who initially encouraged the relationship jealous. The film ends with Ruth having to choose between her friendship and her husband.
