| Notes | The film is more concerned with Cole Porter's music than his biography. And like many films of this period it omits certain unpalatable facts. Here Porter has a girlfriend who eventually grasps that she'll wait forever for him to propose but the casual viewer is unlikely to suss that Porter was gay. Porter was initially disabled during the first World War which left him using sticks to walk. Then later he fell from his horse which resulted in his being more seriously disabled. He went through 28 operations which allowed him to walk with sticks though he often used a wheelchair. If I remember right in the film he is seen very little in a wheelchair.
