| Notes | One of the first films I remember seeing that appeared to differ from the run of the mill Hollywood output. It's actually about class among other things. The middle class Nicholson, though with a future as a musician, chooses to work on an oil rig and has a working class girlfriend (Karen Black). One of the best studies of character in American film. The father has had two strokes and is in a wheelchair and unable to speak.
