Title | Conspiracy Theory (1997) | Alternative/Original Title | | Disability | Limb Wheelchair | Country | USA | Length | 130 | Genre | Mystery | Rating | 2 | Director | Richard Donner
| Cast | Mel Gibson Julia Roberts Patrick Stewart
| Notes | Mel Gibson at beginning chats with a black Vietnam vet in a wheelchair. It would seem just to establish his street cred. He goes into his flat via roof, has loads of locks even on his fridge (and he's not in a student block) and there's a lock on a coffee jar in fridge. A very twee paranoia. As if Julia R. would give such a nutter the time of day. Even if he's proved right he's still one of the 'green ink' brigade. In my view Gibson is simply not a good enough actor to portray the ambiguities of this character. Much is borrowed in the film: the bomb from Hitchcock, chaining the CIA car from Diner (Eddie Murphy used a banana to similar effect in Beverly Hills Cop, in Last Seduction Linda Fliorentino used a piece of wood with nails). Julia Roberts is well out of place.
