| Title | Big Sleep, The (1946) | | Alternative/Original Title | | | Disability | Limb | | Country | USA | | Length | 114 | | Genre | Thriller | | Rating | 5 | | Director | Howard Hawks
| | Cast | Humphrey Bogart Lauren Bacall John Ridgely Louis Jean Heydt Elisha Cook Jr.
| | Notes | B/W. The classic private eye mystery with many imitators (c.f... The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett which is probably the original). General Sternwood is confined to a greenhouse for his health and, I think, is in a wheelchair. I've seen this film as many times as I've counted sheep and yes General Sternwood is definitely in a wheelchair. He says both his legs are paralysed as the result of his debauched life. He says this with such humility and resignation that we might dismiss the connection.
