| Notes | A young woman lets rooms in the family house which is close to Harvard University. She teaches Special Needs children (and smokes in front of them) Naturally she is an amazing teacher though she has never had any formal training. You have to keep in mind that this is 1987 when teaching was perhaps thought as easy as riding a bike. She actually hits a student and gets away with it. She does manage to teach a 15 year old girl and her troublesome boyfriend to read. A lonely person she finds romance with one her boarders, a cellist but her modest happiness is upset by her brother wanting to sell the house. At times the film appears to consist of people taking things out of the fridge and putting them back again. But it's a pleasant film held together by Stockard Channing. There are a few scenes of her teaching in Special Needs.
