Title | Mighty, The (1997) | Alternative/Original Title | | Disability | Learning Difficulty Limb Leg braces Morquio Syndrome | Country | USA | Length | 120 | Genre | Drama | Rating | 4 | Director | Peter Chelsom
| Cast | Sharon Stone Elden Ratliff Kieran Culkin Gena Rowlands Harry Dean Stanton James Gandolfini
| Notes | Kevin (Freak) is a 13 year old boy with Morquios Syndrome which means he has inhibited growth (but see link below for more detail). He walks with braces on his legs and crutches. At school he faces prejudice and has no friends. Then along comes Max who is over big for his age and has learning difficulties. Freak's sharp intellect and Max's ability to protect him and 'be his legs' leads to their being inseparable friends. (see Max Mad II, Masterblaster). Both Ratliff and Culkin are good in the main parts, and Sharon Stone as Kevin's mother shows her real talent. There is a sub-plot involving Max's dad whose jars with the rest of the picture. From the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. Go to http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Villa/9405/index.html for Danette's "My Life with Morquios"
