| | Notes | Two Jewish families living in Antwerp in 1972 are contrasted. One is secular, the other orthodox Hassidic. Both are trying to cope with what happened to them during WWII. The liberal philosophy student daughter from the secular family takes work as a nanny with the orthodox family. Though she is repelled by their strict rules she likes more and more the 4 year old boy with learning difficulties she is looking after. In time she gains a better understanding of her Jewishness but suddenly the boy drowns and the blame is targeted at her.
