Title | My Own Private Idaho (1991) | Alternative/Original Title | | Disability | General Narcolepsy | Country | USA | Length | 102 | Genre | Drama | Rating | 4 | Director | Gus Van Sant
| Cast | River Phoenix Keanu Reeves James Russo William Richert Rodney Harvey
| Notes | Some people won't like this film because it's partly about male prostitution. A pity when there are so few films about narcolepsy. Another pity is that the film doesn't really sustain the promise of the beginning. But this is a serious film in which people have to make hard choices. Phoenix as Mike and Reeves as Scott both work the streets of Portland, Oregon. One from a prosperous family, the other from a poor one. Neither is really interested in sex, and they're not just doing it for the money. Mike is looking for someone who will look after him. Not an easy film to summarize since there is little plot, more a series of vignettes. Narcolepsy is a condition where one falls asleep involuntarily and without warning. Observers might think you're on drugs or drink.
