| Cast | Jeff Goldblum Forest Whitaker Kathy Baker
| Notes | People play music, talk, and play more music. We learn what good friends Jeff Goldblum and Forest Whitaker are. And then the Whitaker starts to have headaches. An M.R.I. scan shows it is a brain tumour and he has perhaps only 3 months to live. All of this intro has taken 40 minutes. Goldblum wants to fight the tumour but all that Whitaker wants is to have a big party. He tells Goldblum that if he fronts up the money for the party he'll be paid back out of his life insurance. He intends to commit suicide because he doesn't want to be "deaf, dumb and blind". This film is a great disappointment unless you like jazz. The two leads are jazz musicians so we hear a lot of that. The film has been called a character study but for that you need a much better script. Neither actor is a regular on the TV circuit and just maybe they thought a lot of talk and a lot of jazz and a dying man would make a serious film. This film is much better than the usual made for TV fare but it still doesn't respect its audience expecting them to be interested when it's not offering anything of interest.
