| Notes | A rural vicar living on the breadline is offered a school chaplaincy which would solve his family's financial problems. The daughter has won a scholarship to a musical college but they can't afford the lodgings in London for her. But the vicar has been told he has only a year to live. He is invited to give a reading at the school chapel and he gives a resounding sermon which the boys cheer but the teachers hate. In a subplot his wife steals some money the vicar is looking after to pay for the daughter's need. Intelligent script, good evocation of period and well acted Nothing to do with terminal illness this is just a plot device.
