Title | High Sierra (1941) | Alternative/Original Title | | Disability | General Club foot | Country | USA | Length | 100 | Genre | Crime | Rating | 4 | Director | Raoul Walsh
| Cast | Humphrey Bogart Ida Lupino Joan Leslie
| Notes | B/W. Included because most cineastes will see this film and it does include the disabled woman who Bogart thinks he's in love with. As I remember it the scenes with the young woman with the club foot (Joan Leslie) are handled as well as the rest of the film which has a strong flavour of romantic sentimentality. The interesting twist is that Bogart who might be thought to be buying her love by paying for the operation loses her when her foot is fixed. In plot terms the disabled woman is like the mongrel dog which leads to Bogart's death in that it reveals the gangster's weakness . Remade as "I Died a Thousand Times" (1955) see below and "Colorado Territory" (1949). In the latter, a western, there is no disability.
