| Notes | One of the best novels about Hollywood, written in late 30s, West died in a car crash in 1940. The film is pretty good, probably more so if you haven't read the book. An interesting study of 'little' people who never make the big scene. Billy Barty plays a dwarf. In the book there is a strict pecking order and I don't know where he lies. Homer, the main character, is the lowest (in his eyes) and all he can look down on is a lizard. It might be justified including this under Mental Illness. From novel by Nathanael West (an American classic, read it).
