| Notes | Set in Yugoslavia, language Serbo-Croat. The story of a feud between two Gypsy families which centres around a forced marriage. Because Matko has made a failed attempt to steal fuel from a train he must make his son marry the dimunitive Afrodita. She is described as "a horrible, grouchy midget". Clearly the image of her is so bad that no man will marry her unless forced to. But she does in fact find true love. Much else goes on in the complicated world of these mafia-like families. The film is unusual, bizzare and very funny at times. One of the family patriarchs is in a motorized wheelchair, obviously home-made and including an oxygen tank an a TV showing nothing but "Casablanca". I think he is in the wheelchair following a stroke.
