| Notes | A great allegorical novel by Germany's leading writer made into a less than great film. Difficult subject matter and perspective but still interesting. Oskar from whose viewpoint the events from the 1920s through the war are seen refuses to grow after his third birthday. He meets a performing dwarf and later a troop of performing dwarfs one of whom he falls in love with. Full of bizarre images. Oscar is played by 12 year old Bennent From the novel by Gunter Grass which is definitely worth reading.
