Title | Even Cowgirls get the blues (1994) | Alternative/Original Title | | Disability | Disfigurement Asthma | Country | USA | Length | 93 | Genre | Road movie | Rating | 2 | Director | Gus Van Sant
| Cast | Uma Therman John Hurt Sean Young
| Notes | A girl is born with very long thumbs. Out of adversity she 'becomes' a road movie using her extended thumbs for, what else, hitchhiking. Now everyone knows you don't hitchhike in America especially if you're a woman. But what the hell this is an excuse to introduce a range of offbeat characters with John Hurt repeating his Quentin Crisp impersonation. A wonder they didn't him have do 'The Elephant Man'. A good cast wasted on a pretentious film. You might just enjoy it for its many good points if you can swallow the sermonising. Keanu Reeves' character has asthma for which he uses an inhaler and is given injections. There's good review of this film at The Women's Studies Database: http://www.inform.umd.edu/EdRes/Topic/WomensStudies/FilmReviews/even-cowgirls-mcalister
