| Notes | This is the story of two women who were flatmates some years before the present action in London. Hannah and Annie spend a weekend together re-newing and discussing their relationship. They spend some of their weekend looking at expensive flats which they have no intention of buying. There is much talk as you would expect from a Leigh film and unusual for him the use of flashbacks. But the dialogue and acting is sharp and acutely observant. Annie when younger had severe determatis and some odd twitches. She is/was a chain-smoker despite having asthma. There is also a friend from their past, Ricky, who stutters and an ex-boyfriend who is now homeless and mentally unstable. This is slice of life drama which won't appeal to all but if you're unfamiliar with Leigh's work (see Secrets and Lies) be patient. The 'minor' disabilities are very much a part of the characters.
