| Notes | An art teacher gets a commission to do a portrait of the head of wealthy family. This was traditionally done by her father but he is ill. When she gets to the family mansion she meets a man she has bumped into on the way. He limps, his right arm hangs limply and his face is sort of lumpy. In a grossly sentimental scene he reveals himself to be a writer and she has actually read his book(s). Basically the film is all about their getting to know each other and falling in love. Along the way she jettisons her boyfriend, her father gets pancreatic cancer and dies, a missing boy is found by a dog and there's an abundance of lush music when nothing in particular (or relevant to the plot) is happening. The film is based on Susan Wilson's Beauty and the Beast. But the beast here is only cosmetically ugly and this film is 5 star tosh.
