| Notes | Bronek Pekosinski is a chess master in his eighties living in Zamosc, Poland. He is alone, without a family and barely knows who he is. He is described as having a 'hump' (curved spine) and being partly paralysed from the effects of cerebral haemorrhage, plus he has Alzheimers. Both the Roman Catholic church and the totalitarian state vie for his soul. He is also searching for his mother. Pekosinski plays himself but actors play the different stages in his life.
