Title | It's a Wonderful Life (1946) | Alternative/Original Title | | Disability | Deaf | Country | USA | Length | 129 | Genre | Fantasy | Rating | 5 | Director | Frank Capra
| Cast | James Stewart Donna Reed Lionel Barrymore Thomas Mitchell Henry Travers Beulah Bondi
| Notes | B/W. If you haven't seen this film then you're not old enough to have reached your first Christmas. Capra and Stewart at their best and most mawkish. The small town hero on the brink of suicide because of business failure is shown his past life by a guardian angel. One of his early heroic deeds was saving his brother from drowning leaving himself deaf in one ear. Myself I prefer Preston Sturges just as I prefer Buster Keaton to Chaplin. But Stewart is one of the best film actors ever. From the story "The Greatest Gift" by Philip Van Doren Stern Re-made for TV as "It Happened One Christmas" (1977) with predictable results.
