| Notes | You have two children. You have their mother and you have their stepmother. Both moms are ready to tear out each other's eyes. But the grim reaper has the edge. Because mom has cancer and it's terminal. Unfortunately it takes around 2 hours for the scythe to descend. And a bit less than that for the two moms to patch up their differences, ostensibly for the sake of the children but really to keep the script moving and have a happy ending i.e. only one death. In the real world family members frequently don't speak to or even see each other for practically whole lifetimes. In the film world they have 90 to 120 minutes to get themselves sorted and emerge as better people. We don't see mom die, nor even look ill. And I thought death bed scenes were what actors craved. This is a variation on a wife dying with her finding a substitute for husband and children. In this case the substitute arrives unannounced and mum hates her.
