| Notes | This film has a subtitle: A Moment of Truth Movie A teenage couple in love discover he has cancer. He's the school football captain now in a hospital bed with a shaven head. The treatment, which we don't see, appears to have got rid of the cancer and he returns to school to a tumultuous welcome. And he makes one of those speeches so full of pathos. But since this has happened within the first half of the film we know the cancer will return. When he knows this he splits up with his girlfriend who doesn't understand why so she persists and asks him. He tells her that even if he doesn't die he won't be able to have children and he knows she wants a big family. Her message to him is that he's going to lick this cancer and must never give up. Alongside all this his mother is threatened with the sack because of taking time off to look after him. But a friend who is an attorney offers to fight for her. One confrontation with her boss with much quoting of new federal laws and the boss caves in. From the book Don't Die My Love by Lurlene McDaniel
