Title | Dad (1989) | Alternative/Original Title | | Disability | Cancer | Country | USA | Length | 117 | Genre | Drama | Rating | 2 | Director | Gary David Goldberg
| Cast | Jack Lemmon Ted Danson Olympia Dukakis Kathy Baker Kevin Spacey Ethan Hawke
| Notes | A husband (Jack Lemmon) who is used to doing nothing about the house struggles to live without his wife when she has a heart attack and goes to hospital. Then he develops cancer. HIs high flyer son (Ted Danson) becomes his carer and the bond between father and son develops. Spoilt by descent into sentimentality and incredulity. Drama is forsaken for melodrama. At the risk of offending fans of Lemmon and Danson I'd say forget this one. It may be right in detail but it's awful in general. A very glossy production, though you can't miss Lemmon's skullcap (like Costner's beard in 'Dances with Wolves' and 'Robin Hood' it doesn't work).
