Title | Paradine Case, The (1948) | Alternative/Original Title | | Disability | Blind | Country | USA | Length | 116 | Genre | Thriller | Rating | 3 | Director | Alfred Hitchcock
| Cast | Gregory Peck (Alda) Valli Ann Todd Charles Laughton Charles Coburn Ethel Barrymore Louis Jourdan Leo G. Carroll
| Notes | Rather dull wordy courtroom drama about woman accused of poisoning her blind husband but with good acting mainly from the supporting players. I'm in the middle of watching this again and like most of Hitchcock there's much more to it than a first viewing will reveal. The blind husband is never seen since he's already dead at the beginning of the film but the dialogue reveals some interesting attitudes to his blindness. Peck, the lawyer, remarks to the widow (who is in prison) that her husband never knew how great her sacrifice was (looking after him) since he had never seen how beautiful she was. Plenty of criticism on Hitchcock at the excellent MacGuffin site http://www.labyrinth.net.au/~muffin/
