| Notes | B/W Joan Crawford plays Beth who finds herself ultra sensitive to light and goes to see an oculist. He tells her "chances are you'll eventually lose your vision." Then begins the thriller. She meets her boyfriend in a bar to plan a robbery at a casino. Beth is the one who gets the safe open while her accomplices dressed as cops rob the proceeds of the illegal gambling. Immediately after the robbery she goes to Indianopolis where there is a doctor who can operate on her eyes. There is only a small chance it will save her sight and it's a very dangerous operation. She has done nothing to cover her tracks and the FBI are soon onto her and through her the rest of the gang. She has the op but has to stay in town for the recovery. The doctor has meanwhile fallen for her and takes her home to see his 9 year old (who oddly has been left alone in the house by her carer). The romance blossoms even when the FBI tell the doc of her misdeeds. Given the chance to get away she stays the help the doc with a patient starting thus on the road to redemption. Then when the jealous boyfriend tracks her down and wants to kill the doc she is shot instead. Unexpectedly (for me) she survives and is totally redeemed. And I'm left wondering what was the blind bit all about.
