| Notes | If you're a masochist you might enjoy the beautiful ..... being cut down to size. Or an Limb amputee devotee. Or into very soft porn. Should be a comedy but isn't. An uncomfortable film to watch. Julian Sands is a surgeon who becomes obsessed with a woman. When she runs away from him she is hit by a car and he amputates her legs. Kept captive in his house she throws things at him so he amputates her arms. Helena, the woman, is clearly named after Helene of Troy who launched a thousand ships and there are pointed shots of Venus di Milo, the armless sculpture. Fenn is never going to be a great actor but Sands can do better. This is Lynch's (daughter of David (Twin Peaks) Lynch) first film we hope she can do better too. For more subtlety in the treatment of the captive woman see 'The Collector' (1965 W. Wyler).
