Title | Liberace (1988) (TV Film) | Alternative/Original Title | | Disability | AIDS | Country | USA | Length | 100 | Genre | Drama | Rating | 3 | Director | Billy Hale
| Cast | Andrew Robinson John Rubinstein Maris Valainis Deborah Goodrich Louis Giambalvo Kario Salem
| Notes | Andrew Robinson, whose face may be familiar to you from Dirty Harry, is well cast as Liberace. I have to admit I found Liberace's style when he lived repulsive but Robinson's portrayal creates sympathy for him. However you feel that half the story is missing, so many things are enigmatic and not just his sexuality. I have the feeling that Robinson with the right director and writer could have made a film of the calibre of say "The People Versus Larry Flynt" where we may not like the main character but we do learn something about him. The cause of Liberace's death is not mentioned in film. Liberace does say that others will accuse him of having AIDS but won't admit it. This is left to a screen note at the end of the film. The other film made in the same year is apparently better but I can't see Robinson's performance being surpassed. See site at: www.bobsliberace.com
