NotesWhen the 13th Earl of Gurney accidentally hangs himself the title passes to his son, Jack (O'Toole). The problem with Jack is that he thinks he's Jesus Christ and has been in a mental hospital for 8 years. Released to take his place in the House of Lords he acts eccentrically giving away the family fortune. A psychiatrist 'cures' Jack of his delusion by confronting him with another patient who thinks he's Jesus Christ. About 30 years ago I read a book called The Three Christs of Ypsilenti in which psychiatrists put three men who believed they were Jesus Christ together in the hope that the confrontation would disabuse the men of their belief. Instead they slightly shifted their positions so each one could hold onto their disillusion. Ypsilenti (if I've spelled it right) is a hospital in Chicago.
