NotesB/W. Bergman likes to set his films on islands, in places where people are forced into each other's company. Here a young woman, Karin, who has just come out of a mental hospital, is on an island with her husband, father and younger brother. Her husband is a doctor and her father a writer. There is much discussion about the soul and life but poor Karin has visions and thinks she has seen God.
