NotesB/W A small village is expecting a visit from a great singing star. A performance which has been arranged by the mayor who is somewhat impish and deaf. At the same time a group of Americans who are bringing aid to the country are expected. The village has to do decide how to greet them. The "Marshall" is presumably a reference to The Marshall Plan through which the U.S.A. gave enormous quantities of aid to Europe after WWII. It was know officially as the European Recovery Program.
