| Notes | A hugely interesting, humourous, humane, moving, provocative film. There are no major stars, no beautiful people. I think it's such a bonus when a film tries to treat its subject seriously that we aren't distracted by big names. If Hugo Weaver is blind I don't know. Probably not. You won't know which direction you're being lead in at any point in this film. The film is about trust as much as blindness but the blindness isn't shoved out of the way once it is established. That a blind man takes photographs isn't crowed about, sometimes it's laughed at, but that's part of the humour. His housekeeper when she's mad at him puts objects where he's going to knock them over. His housekeeper also loves him. He knows that and is cruel to her. This is a film about human beings, their frailty, pettiness, cynicism.
